Throughout our communities, mental health promotion for adults is prominent. Yet, especially at large public schools, mental health assistance for students is insufficient. Often, the lessons given at schools funded by their districts do little to diagnose and identify those who show signs of mental illness and require assistance. Although the ACSA recommends a 250:1 ratio of guidance counselor to student ratio, the national average is 408:1, diluting the amount of care each student in the school may receive. Thus, it's our imperative to improve how schools, workplaces, and organizations identify mental health in their systems and give more holistic solutions.
We are a group of high school friends from Tampa, Florida who are interested in making an impact in the deliverance of mental health assistance. Inspired by presentations in our school regarding mental health, we realized that the best way to accomplish our goal is providing relief to people in need. Thus, the name The Relief Project.
